Henry VIII (28 June 1491 – 28 January 1547) was King of England from 22 April 1509 until his death in 1547. Henry is best known for his six marriages, and for his efforts to have his first marriage to Catherine of Aragon annulled. His disagreement with Pope Clement VII about such an annulment led Henry to initiate the English Reformation, separating the Church of England from papal authority. William Webb (1775-1856) was born at Sutton Coldfield in February 1775, the son of William Webb, Master of Sutton Coldfield Grammar School. He entered Clare College, Cambridge, in 1793 (B.A., 1797; M.A., 1800; B.D., 1808; D.D. 1816), and was thereafter Fellow (1799), tutor and master (1815-1856). He was ordained deacon in 1800, and priest in 1801, and was the Rector of Fornham All Saints, Suffolk, 1815-1816, and Vicar of Litlington, Cambridgeshire, 1816-1856.
